Have you ever wondered about what could have been is a few elements played out differently in F1? For example, what if Ayrton Senna never died? What if Michael Schumacher had not had his skiing accident? How would Robert Kubica’s career be different without his rally accident?

It should have been Glock
The first scenario revisits the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton needed 5th place to win the world championship. In the real world, 4th-placed Timo Glock ran out of fuel and Hamilton was not about to decline an open invitation. However, in this universe, teammate Jarno Trulli replaces Glock, who was running 7th at the time.
Revenge of the Number 2 F1 drivers
In this next couple of scenarios, Fernando Alonso gets a message from Ferrari during the 2010 German Grand Prix. The team says those five dreaded words, “Felipe is faster than you”. Just then, a gleeful Massa overtook his teammate.
Additionally, the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix went down in F1 notoriety. During that race, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were told to hold station in the infamous Multi-21 saga. Vettel disobeyed and it opened a whole new can of worms. However, in a different scenario, the order was Multi-12, and Webber was the one who disobeyed and overtook Vettel.
Finally, Lewis Hamilton got those three magic words on the radio, “Lewis, it’s James”. Lo and behold, Hamilton made way for a quicker Valtteri Bottas.
I came in like a wrecking ball
During the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean cause the mother of all pile-ups. He knocked out Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez, Kamui Kobayashi and Pastor Maldonado in the process. On Earth 2 though, the Frenchman did a massive divebomb and managed to overtake everyone cleanly.
Podium curse? What podium curse?
Without a doubt, Nico Hulkenberg is the unluckiest driver in Formula One. The highly-rated German driver has one pole position under his belt, but never set foot on the podium. He has had so many chances to take that elusive podium, only for it to slip from his grasp.
During the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix, he battled Lewis Hamilton for a win. This was until he lost control in the wet and slid into the Briton. Somewhere in the multiverse, the Hulk successfully overtook the Brit’s McLaren and went on to take a maiden victory.
Why can’t we be friends?
Everyone knows that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg used to be good friends. Unfortunately, their time as Mercedes teammates strained it to a point where they couldn’t stand each other. However, an alternate reality revealed that not even the championship fight could break their rock-solid friendship.
We can fight
It is well-documented that Honda’s second stint with McLaren was a glaring failure, and the team fell from grace. However, what if they relived the glory days of the Senna-Prost dominance era without the drama.
Torpedo gets what’s coming to him
Daniil Kvyat developed a reputation for spearing into other cars ‘like a torpedo’. However, what if he was the victim and Sebastian Vettel was the aggressor?
F1 driver swap with a twist
