Formula 1 community is well aware of George Russell and his love for Power-point presentations. The young Brit went viral on YouTube when Formula 1 posted a video of Albon, Norris and Russell presenting their reasons for being the Rookie of the Year.
The Briton is a Mercedes drivers’ academy graduate and is driving for Williams at the moment. He is considered the next in line for filling in the next vacant Mercedes seat on the grid. Meanwhile, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff described how Russell convinced him of his qualities using a Power-point.

“He looked more like an accountant than a racing driver,” recalled Wolff. “[He] announced himself by email, He wrote that he won the British State Kart Championship and has just won British Formula 4. I need your advice.”

Wolff on the first impression of George Russell
Toto Wolff recalled the day when he first met young Russell. The Briton had invited himself years ago and advertised himself the Mercedes boss. It worked out for Russell as Wolff inducted him in Mercedes drivers academy and later in Formula 1.

“He came all alone, in a black suit, with a black tie. Must have been his communion suit because it was pretty tight!” This PowerPoint presentation contained all the reasons why he could one day be a successful Mercedes drive. That was really done tip-top,” recalled Wolff.
“First there was his résumé, his various experiences. Then one side was ‘my strengths’, another side was ‘my weaknesses’, and then one side was how he wants to continue working on his weaknesses and how he wants to develop his strengths,” he further explained.
George Russell is pegged as a future world champion. However, at this moment of his career, the Briton is focusing on helping Williams get back to their glory days. The team went point-less last season, though he came close at Imola. Next season will be interesting. Do you think Russell will break Williams’ point-less run?
