Major Shakeup at Williams F1 as Simon Roberts Departs, CEO Jost Capito Takes Over Team Principal Role

The Williams F1 team will be getting a new Team Principal after Simon Roberts has decided to part ways with the team. Jost Capito the current CEO of the Grove-based team will take on the role of Team Principal going forward.

Roberts joined the team last June and was given the new role of Managing Director. When the new team was sold to Dorilton Capital, he was promoted to acting Team Principal, and it was soon made permanent.

Jost Capito thanks Simon Roberts for dedication to the team

Jost Capito said, “Simon has played an integral role in managing the transition over the last 12 months and I would like to thank him for his great contribution during that time.”

Roberts gave his own thoughts about the decision, and said, “It has been a pleasure to take on the role of Team Principal following the departure of the Williams family from the sport.

“However, with the transition well underway I am looking forward to a new challenge and wish everyone in the team well for the future.”

How are Williams doing this season?

The Grove-based outfit still seems to struggle at the back and failed to make it into the Top ten of every race. Hence, the team hasn’t been able to score a single point this season so far.

George Russell has been extracting the most out of the lackluster this season, pushing it into the second round of qualifying. However, the same can’t be said for his Canadian teammate, Nicholas Latifi, who gets stuck in Q1.

Can the new leadership of Jost bring a breath of fresh air into the team and take the next level? Or will the Grove-based outfit still remind stagnant in the world of Formula One? We will just have to wait and see how this decision plays out.
