Marko Acquits Mercedes of ‘Illegal’ F1 Dealing Despite ‘Strange’ Pattern Since British GP

Red Bull scored a double podium finish at the Turkish Grand Prix. Despite maximizing on the result, they were no match against their rival Mercedes at the circuit. The team had no answers to Mercedes’ pace during the weekend. Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko mentioned that the German team had an advantage of 15km/h on them.

It looks like that the world champions have the superior engine with just six races to go. This has certainly worried Marko, as he mentioned that 4 out of 6 races left favor Mercedes.

There is still something strange from Silverstone: Helmut Marko

As reported by Formula Passion, the Austrian told F1 Insider that the German team have had an edge on them in engine performance since Silverstone. But he continued by mentioning that he does not think that they did anything illegal.

“I don’t think that Mercedes has done something illegal, but there is still something strange from Silverstone. So, now it is up to us to understand why they have suddenly become so fast,” said Marko.

“Is it just a question of the engine or is there something else? We will work day and night to try to understand and interpret this secret as soon as possible. It depends on us,” said the Red Bull advisor. (Translated via Google Translate)

The 2021 F1 season has just six races left, and Mercedes lead Red Bull by 36 points. Marko mentioned it would be difficult to close the gap as four out of six races favor Mercedes.

Of the six races that remain on the program, only Mexico and Brazil can be in our favor, as both are on high ground.
