But the circumstances of his last race win will always be a point of discussion. Helmut comments on the amount of politics involved as they fought off Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.

Marko also explains how the challenge against Lewis was different. Max, a younger driver compared to Lewis, came in and snagged the title from right under his nose.

“It was different with Lewis Hamilton: He is much older, he was the king whose throne was shaken by a much younger one. From a psychological point of view, this is a completely different requirement.” Helmut commented.

A title would’ve made Lewis the undisputed king of Formula 1. But the wait continues!

Max Verstappen vs Charles Leclerc

Now there’s a new rivalry brewing with Mercedes lacking in terms of performance. The Ferrari team comprising Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz is the pair to beat. “With Ferrari, there is a better relationship. What’s more: Max is now driving against Leclerc, they grew up together in karting, have known each other for a long time, are a generation.” Marko explained the relationship between the pair.

A Formula 1 relationship is like walking on thin ice. It only takes a second, a crash, a comment, or even a maneuver to ruin things. However, it will be interesting to see how Red Bull tackles the challenge of Ferrari in the current season.
