After Max Verstappen became the first Dutch driver to have won the Dutch Grand Prix, the Circuit Zandvoort has started gaining more and more recognition in the country. Ever since the 2021 event, the number of fans in the Netherlands wanting to come and witness the race live has increased.

The organizers of the Dutch GP have already given it a thought when Max returns to the country as a defending champion. As it stands, the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix will have a massive influx of Max Verstappen fans as the organizers look toward increasing the capacity.

Talking about this, the Director of the Zandvoort event Robert van Overdijk conveyed in an interview with Motorsport.com, “Of course, there are still things that we were unable to do last year. The entertainment program is an important part of this and we can welcome an extra 40,000 people every day.”

‘Last year the organizers from Miami looked very closely at us, at how we arranged things in the Netherlands. Now they say ‘you have been transparent, so come and have a look at us. We are willing to share all plans with you.’ That’s good because it takes the sport as a whole to a higher level.”, the director further asserted on the event’s development.

Can Max Verstappen win the Dutch Grand Prix once again?

Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2021. He did not just win it, he dominated the whole race. Except for Valtteri Bottas’s lead from Lap 22 to Lap 29, it was the Dutchman who had the lead in all the remaining laps.

The 24-year-old driver took the pole position at Zandvoort ahead of the two Mercedes as well as finished the race ahead of them. Max finished 20 seconds ahead of the title contender Lewis and 56 seconds ahead of Bottas last year.

However, things might be a little tricky this time around. With two Ferraris being very strong this season and Red Bull cars aren’t entirely reliable as of now, it’ll be difficult to say if Max Verstappen can go all out and defend his Dutch Grand Prix title.
