Mattia Binotto has talked about the testing at Barcelona lately. The Ferrari boss has revealed that not all the teams showed their true potential during the test runs. The official 2022 test runs just concluded at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain this week.

Teams like Ferrari and McLaren have been great in the three days of tests. Even Alpha Tauri and Williams showed glimpses of speed, whereas Red Bull and Mercedes didn’t show anything special in the first two days. However, the last day saw Lewis Hamilton topping the timesheet. With the other Mercedes of George Russell following in closely, the Bulls and Papaya cars followed in.

Despite the good runs by Ferrari, the top executive is reluctant to accept that this is all. In regard to the testing at Barcelona, the Italian team boss stated in an interview, “I think it’s too early to judge performance. Some teams are hiding more speed than others. We have to look at the testing in Bahrain and the first races.

Talking about Ferrari’s plan post-testing session at Barcelona, Binotto further stated, “At the beginning of the season, we will try to unleash the full potential of the car and make the first update. The changes we will make will be small things, not serious things. So at the start of the season, we will mostly focus on unleashing the full potential of the current car.”

Ferrari has unveiled their new Challenger named F1-75 a few weeks back. With the car, came some new changes. Fans are of the opinion that Ferrari can bounce back this season. From fighting for the third position to giving a go for the top position might be the tactics this year.

The Maranello-based team finished in P3 last year behind Red Bull. They’ve fought with McLaren the entire last season for this position, only to win it at last. However, as things stand, the team from Italy looks very strong to upgrade themselves further in the season to come. It’ll be interesting to see Ferrari coming in between the Red Bull and Mercedes dominance.
