For next month’s virtual Le Mans 24 Hours event, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris will partner up for Team Redline. With the coronavirus pandemic halting everything in its tracks, the  original event has had to be delayed. So, an online counterpart will take its place on June 13-14. Meanwhile, the real-world round of the World Endurance Championship is postponed to September 19-20.

Both Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are keen sim racers and have competed together under the Team Redline banner. For this 24 Hours of Le Mans event, they will share an LMP2-spec Oreca with sim racers Atze Kerkhof and Greger Huttu.

The virtual endurance event is the brainchild of the ACO in collaboration with the WEC. This event will be run on the rFactor 2 platform, and has attracted a number of well-known motorsport teams.

Who will join Max Verstappen and Lando Norris on the grid?

Among the confirmed entrants are Team Penske, who will field a virtual Oreca LMP2 car. Meanwhile reigning Le Mans winner Toyota Gazoo Racing have entered three virtual machines for the event.

One of the biggest threats will be privateer LMP1 outfit Rebellion Racing. The outfit is partnering with Williams Esports and is set to field a four-car team.

It is also worth noting that Fernando Alonso’s Esports team is set to enter a single entry. Meanwhile the massive field will also include a large majority of GTE virtual machinery.

Other F1 alumni include former Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella. The Brazilian and the Italian are expected to team up and Princess Charlene of Monaco is endorsing their team.

In the mean time, all the F1 drivers and the community is anxiously waiting for the season to begin. Tentatively speaking, the 2020 season could finally begin in early July with the Austrian Grand Prix acting as the season opener.
