Max Verstappen Can Win the Title in Singapore, but What Can Charles Leclerc Do to Delay His Eventual Defeat?

The 2022 Formula 1 technical regulations overhaul promised closer racing. And so far, they have delivered too. However, F1 fans also learned that closer racing doesn’t always mean a nail-biting championship fight to the bitter end.

With six races to go before we end the 2022 season, it seems as though the Championship is a foregone conclusion. Max Verstappen has a comfortable lead over Charles Leclerc. However, Verstappen’s double World Champion status can be sealed as soon as the Singapore Grand Prix.

You don’t need a super-computer to figure out that Max Verstappen is currently in pole position to retain his title. A simple calculator though can show that he may be able to win the championship at the next race, which is the Singapore Grand Prix. If he can churn out another win with the fastest lap, and Leclerc finishes 9th or lower we’ll see Verstappen crowned as the 2022 champion.

Ferrari has had a terrible season in 2o22, having a car that can fight for the championship, and then slipping away on pure pace and reliability issues. A testament to how disastrous Ferrari‘s season has been is the fact that Max Verstappen could’ve won the Championship at Monza if a few untoward incidents hadn’t gone against him.

Max Verstappen could’ve been champion at Monza. Let that sink in. In a year where Ferrari and Red Bull were direct competitors, Verstappen could’ve clinched the title in Ferrari’s backyard. But Verstappen’s luck was what saved Ferrari from embarrassment.

This would’ve been the final nail in the coffin for Ferrari and the Tifosi. After such a disappointing season, this was the last thing they would’ve wanted to experience.
