Max Verstappen and Red Bull have ended their boycott of Sky F1, post some behind-the-scenes interactions. The double World Champion had spoken out at the Mexican Grand Prix weekend regarding “disrespectful” reporting towards him by Sky. This was after Sky’s pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz made comments regarding Lewis Hamilton getting “robbed” of the 2021 World Championship.

Just about two weeks since we moved from Mexico City to Sao Paulo, Verstappen and Red Bull have decided to end this boycott. Upon being approached for a conversation by the Sky Sports director, Red Bull interacted with Sky. This was a behind-the-scenes, off-camera conversation to sort out the Dutchman’s grievances.

Verstappen told Algemeen Dagblad, “Then you come to certain conclusions together, that some things just weren’t relevant, and in the end, it can be solved very quickly.” [translated via Google Translate]

The 25-year-old said that such conversations should not happen on TV.

“You don’t have to enter into that dialogue live on the channel. People then watch, that’s not necessary at all.” Verstappen has been vocal about the persistent hate and disrespect he or anyone gets regarding the several fiascos that occurred in 2021.

In the Thursday press conference in Brazil, Max said over the end of the boycott, “Yeah, we drew a line under it. So we just keep on going.” He also duly took a question from Sky F1 commentator David Croft.

Red Bull had decided to stop speaking to the regional channels of Sky including the UK. After ending the boycott, they also stated in Brazil that it was always a one-off stance and never a long-term one.
