No matter how young you were while deciding your career path, Max Verstappen did it sooner. The Dutchman, with his teammate Sergio Perez, sat down for a chat on the Pardon My Take YouTube channel. The pair talked about F1 and life and Verstappen revealed the young at which he knew he’d become a racer.

Although the answer might be surprising, however, given the absolute hunger in the Dutchman, no one can’t rule it out. And maybe this is exactly what it takes to become an F1 driver and world champion.

When the hosts of the YouTube show asked the Red Bull men, “When did you guys first realize that you really loved going fast?” Verstappen replied, “I think when my mom gave birth.” No one could hold their laughter after Verstappen’s reply, including Perez. Maybe Verstappen did not choose his career that early, but he started karting at an extremely young age.

When asked about the karting days, Verstappen said, “To be honest with you I haven’t driven a proper go-kart in like five years now, but I mean I also started driving when I was four years old so I did that for like 12, 13 years so I think sometimes it’s not bad to have a little break from it.”

And added, “It is, let’s say, easy-going. It’s where you learn all the basics of what you’re doing right now and, of course, a lot less politics involved, so that is for sure very nice.”

Speaking of drama, the Red Bull world champion was absent from DTS’s season 4 blockbuster. The Dutchman’s feud with the producers meant little to no screen time for him for his championship-winning season.

Verstappen criticized the show for using some quotes in the previous seasons out of context and painting a different picture. This was the reason behind the Dutchman’s non-participation in the latest season. However, Verstappen has reportedly ended his quarrel with the producers and will return to the series in the next edition.
