As the trend in the season continues, Max Verstappen finished a race, as a race winner yet again. The dutchman with incredible consistency this season has seen every chequered flag as a winner. And it was a good weekend for Red Bull overall as well, with both drivers in the top two.

But it wasn’t the smoothest ride, and Verstappen is aware of that. The defending world champion spun out into the gravel on turn four, falling behind leader Leclerc, Russell, and teammate Sergio Perez. With a monumental task in front of him to catch the race leader Leclerc, the winds turned Verstappen’s way.

Perez eventually gave up his position to Max so he could attack the Mercedes driver, George Russell. But the persistent DRS problem that cost Verstappen the pole in qualifying made overtaking Russell difficult. However, Leclerc’s retirement due to an engine failure gave hope to Red Bull and Max. And they eventually passed a slower Russell, even though the young Brit put up a good fight against the world champion.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull overtake Ferrari

Similar to their world champion driver, the first and second finish also bring a lot of joy to Red Bull camp. The Milton Keynes-based team is ahead of Ferrari in the constructors’ championship table now. Leclerc’s retirement obviously aided this as only Carlos Sainz finished the race and that too in P4.
