Max Verstappen recently won the first world championship of his career. Red Bull won the title in a dramatic fashion, overtaking title rival Lewis Hamilton on the last lap of the race. The Dutch driver made a successful lunge despite having a cramp in his leg and crossed the line to take the championship.

His race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, played a huge role in the last few laps. He accurately conveyed the necessary information while Verstappen was behind the safety car. Verstappen, after the race, thanked his race engineer and called him a “rockstar.” He took to Instagram Story to shower praise on GP.

” Signing off the track for 2021. GP, you have been a rockstar again this year mate. We are the world champions.” said Verstappen.

GP is very passionate, driven and wants to win: Max Verstappen

As reported by Planetf1, GP has guided Verstappen since the time he joined Red Bull in 2016. Both of them have developed a very special bond since then and can understand each other very well.

“We are in contact a lot and the relationship has grown over the years. We get on really well and we know exactly what we want from each other, which way we want to go,” said Verstappen about his race engineer.

He mentioned that he and GP are very passionate and motivated and want to win.

“GP is very passionate, driven, and wants to win. I think that is very important: you not only have to be driven to want to be in Formula 1, you also have to like being here,” said Max.

GP and Max have etched their names as one of the best driver-engineer pairings in F1 history. They, with time and experience, have developed a bond that has helped Verstappen to become world champion.
