After Jos Verstappen and Toto Wolff were caught having a chat, the rumors of Max Verstappen’s transfer were triggered. There is no doubt that the 3-time world champion is in demand right now as he showcased that the season was over before it began at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Mercedes camp has kept the rumors afloat with Russell stating, “I would welcome anyone and believe I can beat anyone.” However, the Dutch driver has quelled the rumors with his latest statement.

A day before the Free Practice sessions at the Jeddah circuit, Max Verstappen was having a word with the media where he was asked, “Do you see any circumstances where you wouldn’t be racing for Red Bull Racing in 2025?” The question was asked to understand the situation around the potential Mercedes move. In a disappointing moment for Mercedes fans, Verstappen replied, “Things must go really crazy, I guess, but that’s not the target for everyone.”

While this response clears out rumors, it shows that the Formula 1 community was perhaps getting ahead of itself. But considering how Formula One operates with transfers, it was an expected assumption. Now, with that out of the way, the question of the hour is, will this mean that Red Bull will continue to lead Formula 1? And for how long will this last?

What could possibly stop Max Verstappen’s dominance?

When it comes to the world champions’ driving, the Dutch driver has showcased one of the most impressive runs in the sport. Winning 19 out of 22 races in 2023, Verstappen only missed the podium in one race coming in 5th and scoring P2 in two races. Along with that, if we consider his 22.7-second lead at the Bahrain Grand Prix, it’s safe to say that his driving won’t be the reason for the end of his reign.

On the other hand, maybe it’s how much the driver relies on Adrian Newey to give him a competitive car to be able to continue his wins. But that might get hampered considering the regulation changes that will take place in 2026. This might level the playing field for all the teams and drivers, giving others a chance to give Max Verstappen a run for his money. The F1 grid is filled with the 20 best drivers on the planet, and closing in the gap with Max Verstappen should not be that hard given he is up against 2 world champions and one being Lewis Hamilton.

With that said, there are chances that the regulations might change the trajectory of the sport, just like it did when Mercedes and Hamilton were in their prime. Ultimately, the rumors about Max Verstappen moving to the Brackley-based team were put to an end, as Verstappen tells the world that for now, he has no plans to leave the team. But to be honest, having Verstappen move to Mercedes in 2025 would give the world a chance to see if it is just the driver, the car, or a combination of both that makes the Dutch driver such a threat to the rest. Let us know what you think about Verstappen’s dominance in the comments below.
