Max Verstappen Reveals Father Jos Didn’t Convince Him to Become a Racer

Max Verstappen is one of the greatest drivers on the grid, exceptional talent, and a future champion to some. The journey to the Formula One grid usually begins with karting; Max is no exception and started from the bottom to get to the pinnacle of motorsport.

The Dutchman is the son of a former F1 driver, Jos Verstappen, but his dad didn’t really push him to get behind the wheel. Talking to his teammate Sergio Perez during Red Bull’s podcast, the 23-year-old explained how his journey began.

Max Verstappen reveals funny story about his karting career

In the podcast, Firing up For 2021 With Max & Checo, the 23-year-old said, “What I remember from when I was four years old starting in Go Karting, well basically the funny thing is I started because of someone else, not my Dad, pushing me or my mum pushing me.

“I went to the go-kart track, and there was a kid driving, even younger than me.”

Verstappen added, ” He was just three at that time and I called up my dad, who was, at that time, at a Formula One race and I said I want to start driving as well. Initially, he didn’t let me he was saying no, you have to wait until your six years old and I started crying on the phone, then my mum was like we should buy him a go-kart.”

Can the Dutchman fly and grab the title?

The grid has seen an amazing talent in Verstappen since he first stepped onto the scene in 2016 and won the race in Spain. Since then, Verstappen has been on the tail of Lewis Hamilton trying to defeat the Knight and claim the championship.

However, The Red Bull’s prodigy finished last season with 214 points, which included 2 wins, but that was enough to stop Hamilton as he won his seventh world title.

The Dutchman will go again and challenge the Knight once the light goes out in Bahrain. The two are talented drivers and will put on a great show when they race other , fans will be eager to see them battle on the track once the season goes underway.? Will Max able to stop Lewis from achieving his eighth title.
