Are we in a parallel universe? Red Bull and Mercedes have given us the most iconic rival moments in recent times. The fans are expecting it to continue in the upcoming 2023 season. But in a funny turn of events, Max Verstappen and Toto Wolff agree on something. Formula 1 is about expecting the unexpected, usually on track, but who would have thought the Mercedes Boss and rival team’s double world champion will be on the same page? Pinch yourself because this is not an alternate reality.

2022 saw Mercedes battle the proposing issue, and the season became a yearlong trial and error for the Silver Arrows. In complete contrast, Red Bull was dominant throughout the season. Adrian Newey had gotten it right while their rivals were struggling with a regulation overhaul. Red Bull now has a better run-up for 2023. Agreeing to that, Verstappen said, “Those who got off to a good start can build on that, and anyone who was in trouble will need a while.”

According to Italy’s Autosprint, as quoted by motorsport.nextgen-auto.com, the German team’s boss agrees with Verstappen. He said, “There is no doubt that when you start half a second late, it is difficult to catch teams as strong as Red Bull or Ferrari.”

However, even after a long season of humble experience, the team still wants to stick to their choice. They believe that their construction has locked potential.

He stated, “For the new year, we have to be realistic about our expectations. I think we have a good starting point, but let’s not take it for granted…. I do believe that there is still so much potential in our car and its philosophy that maybe we will have a very big and steep development curve in the months to come.”
