It is not uncommon to hear an F1 driver talk about his favorite track. So naturally, as they have a few favorite tracks, there are also tracks that they do not like as much. To give an example, the two-time champion Max Verstappen enjoys his outings on the permanent circuits, but when it comes to the street circuits, he is not a big fan. This revelation comes straight from his exclusive interview with FORMULE 1 Magazine, where the Dutchman also took a possible jibe at his teammate Sergio Perez.
The Dutch Lion has dominated the F1 tracks this year, winning 15 out of 22 races. Although the Dutchman has won quite a few street circuit races like Monaco, Miami, Jeddah, and Baku in recent years, he has never loved the same.

When asked if he would like to see fewer street circuits on the F1 calendar, Max Verstappen said, “Formula 1 cars are really not made for that. I don’t like street circuits at all anymore. Certainly not with the even bigger and heavier new generation of cars. With the old cars it was still doable, but now…”
“In Monaco and Singapore, I was very disappointed with how the new cars took to the streets. Too heavy, too stiff, you can’t take kerbs with it anymore. The cars just aren’t built for it. Street circuits.” He concludes, “are fun for pictures, but not for racing.”

On the tracks where other drivers often fail to finish their races, Checo Perez is found performing quite well. Max Verstappen has an upper hand on the permanent tracks. But when it comes to the streets, Sergio Perez is arguably the King of Street racing.

To race on Street Circuits is one of the biggest challenges for any driver. A motorist is left with no margins for error and also needs a high level of concentration in order to cross the chequered flag first. Despite that, Checo Perez won his 4th Grand Prix at yet another street circuit this year.
