2022 brings a new era to F1. The new regulations have led to some fascinating new designs across the grid. The current talk of the town is the Mercedes W-13. The German outfit brought new upgrades to the tests in Bahrain, and it’s safe to say that they have caught everyone’s eyes.

The Silver Arrows have debuted a design that has no side pods. The whole car sort of caved in on the sides. This raised quite a few eyebrows about its legality around the paddock. Even the Managing director of F1 had not anticipated such an idea. Has Mercedes got a silver bullet in their chamber already?

Verstappen shares his thoughts on the new Mercedes W-13

The radical-looking W-13 has drawn its fair few comments from the paddock. However, the most unfiltered and raw comment that we have heard about the new W13 comes from the Reigning World Champion.

As the natural flow of things is, Verstappen was asked about the silver arrow’s new look. He did not hold back, while speaking to NOS he said “I don’t know if the W13 is legal – but it’s quite ugly, isn’t it?”

When quizzed further about the design, the Dutchman added that the design does not bother him in the least.

Verstappen’s 2022 chances

With an immensely consuming 2021 title fight under his belt, Verstappen’s 2022 season is going to be more of the same. The reigning world champion is possibly going to face harsher competition this time around. The rise of new challengers in Ferrari and McLaren would only add fuel to the fire.
