Max Verstappen recently opened up on his F1 title. The Dutch driver is happy with his title despite the controversy-laden Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Red Bull man doesn’t care about people who feel he got the title by luck.
Verstappen got the better of Lewis Hamilton at the very last lap of Abu Dhabi to snatch the title away from him. This was the Dutchman’s first driver’s world title and fifth for his team, Red Bull. Although many feel that the title is a bit controversial, Max Verstappen disagrees with all of that.

When asked if some people are trying to question his 2021 title win, the former Toro Rosso man told De Telegraaf, “It could be. But if they know me well, they know I don’t care. At the end of the day, it was a crazy and epic Formula 1 season.”

“The losing team will try to take the shine off it a bit. But on the winning side, it still feels good, I can assure you.”, the 24-year-old further asserted.

Lewis Hamilton was leading the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from Max Verstappen. As the race reached its final laps, Williams’ Nicholas Latifi crashed against the barrier. Michael Masi, the race director, called brought out the safety car to clear out the debris. Max Verstappen took advantage of the safety car situation and pitted for fresh soft tires.
Masi then made the decision to unlap the lapped cars, letting Max Verstappen come right behind Lewis Hamilton. As soon as the race restarted, Verstappen overtook Lewis, who was on his old hard tires, and took the championship away from him.

As the new season dawns, Verstappen has taken #1 as his car number to celebrate his maiden F1 victory. The Red Bull man goes in to defend his title from a resilient Lewis Hamilton who’s waiting over a year for his eighth world title.
