He finished the championship at P3 on the standings as he kept taking the fight to Mercedes each weekend. He missed the P2 position by just 9 points. He would have managed a P2 finish it wasn’t for some unfortunate DNFs and retirements.

Verstappen spent the whole season with his feet on the pedal. However, he is finally excited to change that after the season ends. “Now I’m looking forward to my home and to being able to put my feet on the sofa after so many races,” he said.

Jos Verstappen also spoke highly about his son’s final drive of the season in Abu Dhabi. He said, “I kept my fingers crossed for Max that he would get away as well as possible at the start, he did it. That was not a matter of course either, because not all starts in 2020 were exemplary. When he was in the lead, he could control what was happening,” he further added.

A driver needs a good car to win in Formula 1 and Max had a fantastic car in Abu Dhabi. He did complain about some vibrations in the tyres, but he managed the tyres well to claim the win.
