Jos has a blog where he usually pens down his thoughts regarding various occurrences in F1. While usually, he’s happy with a Verstappen Jr. win, this time around his frustration was clear, as he called out Red Bull. However, many fans were arguably content with Perez‘s long-awaited win, especially after the Spain GP denial.

Jos Verstappen compares Pirelli to Michelin and Bridgestone

The subject matter has changed this time around, as Verstappen was critical of the Pirelli’s maxi rain tires. He believes they are not up to the mark of Bridgestone and Michelin from his days. Commenting on the Monaco GP rain situation, he wrote, “I find it amazing how little grip the riders had with the heavy rain.

“It’s nothing new since it’s been going on for a while now. Something should be done about it.” He further added, “They have to make sure that these tires can handle three centimeters of water. It was possible in our time, when there was competition between Bridgestone and Michelin.” (quotes translated using google)

Previously, Bridgestone and Michelin were at the top of their tire supply game in F1. However, due to various circumstances, initially Michelin, and later Bridgestone, withdrew from the competition. F1 Red flags do not impress Verstappen Sr.

Jos also criticized the current red flag procedures. Only last year, Charles Leclerc had earned a pole lap in Monaco and crashed, as Max couldn’t lock in his flying lap. This year, too, Perez’s unprecedented spin stopped the Dutchman from becoming a potential pole sitter.

However, Jos used Yuki Tsunoda’s barrier touch example and wrote, “Besides, red flags are thrown fast these days. Tsunoda hit the barrier with his left front wheel during qualifying, and a red flag was waved immediately. By doing that, you ruin every other driver’s lap.”
