At the Dutch Grand Prix’s FP2, Daniel Ricciardo was involved in a disastrous event that not only changed the outcome of the race but also displayed an unexpected act of bravery and heroism. And soon when the dust settled the Honey Badger’s fellow opponent and countryman Oscar Piastri emerged as a testament to admiration and devotion for Ricciardo’s humanitarian efforts that resulted in a fractured wrist of the flamboyant Australian.

The Zandvoort track has always been noted for its fast straights and difficult turns. Yesterday it took a dark turn when Daniel Ricciardo was seen following Oscar Piastri, whose MCL60 had already crashed out. The 22-year-old was the first one to collide with the Tecpro barrier at the tight banked hairpin on the Zandvoort track. Considering the 33-year-old was moving swiftly himself, Ricciardo had to respond quickly to avert what could have been an extremely unpleasant circumstance.

Instead of crashing into the other car, Ricciardo instead seemed to bury his nose into the soft barrier himself as it was more secure. His race alongside Piastri was abruptly ended and worries were raised among fans when the impact of the accident against the safety barriers broke his wrist.

Due to the collision, both drivers’ second practice session came to a premature stop, and a red flag was later raised to help rescue both cars. Daniel Ricciardo showed heroic qualities for his younger countryman throughout the whole event, and the 22-year-old, who was only a few meters from a terrible catastrophe, expressed gratitude to his compatriot for saving his life.

In a viral tweet that seems a fan page of Oscar Piastri, @oscarpiastri81, we found a quoted tweet from the Melburnian which read, ” I don’t know what would’ve happened in the crash but… obviously if you’re coming into that corner, it’s blind [inaudible] so maybe he saw me too late and turned to the wall instead of into me, so if he did, thank you.”

Daniel Ricciardo certainly suffered a significant setback, and the fans who were overjoyed by the flamboyant Australian’s return to Formula 1 would now miss his presence at the Zandvoort race. However, for them, the AlphaTauri driver has sent a powerful message.

After the injury, the Perth-based Australian has made a strong statement about his comeback but before that, he narrates how excited he was to be back to racing after the summer break. As per PlanetF1, the Honey Badger said, ” I was very excited to be back after the break. The day was going pretty well. Ricciardo only returned to the sport two races ago and it’s been an unexpected end to Ricciardo’s comeback to Formula 1, which the eight-time race winner aims to change as soon as he can. He added, “It’s really unfortunate and frustrating, but I’ll try to recover as quickly as I can. Obviously, I’d love to get back soon, but I also want to ensure we do things the right way, so I come back strong and competitive.”
