McLaren F1 CEO Zak Brown Sheds Light on the ‘Best Quality’ of Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo had a mixed first season with the McLaren team. The Aussie driver had high hopes for himself but was beaten by his young teammate Lando Norris in the championship standings. But McLaren CEO Zak Brown believes that despite his tough first season with the team, there are some positive qualities about him that improve the team as a whole.

Daniel is regarded as one of the best drivers on the grid. Brown mentioned that he showed his true pace when he won the Italian Grand Prix, leading a 1-2 for the team.

As reported by GPFans, the American revealed the Australian driver had a difficult time in his first year with McLaren. But he also pointed out that Ricciardo did get more comfortable with the 2021 car in the second half of the season.

“We have seen a different Daniel in the second part of the season, where he is up to speed and he feels much more confident in the car. So I’m excited to see in 2022 when it is a fresh start for everyone,” said Brown.

“The best quality is that he is a great teammate, not just to Lando but to everyone in the garage. He’s very honest. He’s a pleasure to have in the garage and he has had his challenges and he has had to adapt to our car.

I think in Monza he showed what he is capable of and that was a dominating performance and then he has had some struggles,” said the McLaren CEO.

Ricciardo, despite his fun nature, is known to be a straightforward and no-nonsense person in the paddock. It will be interesting to see if he will start the 2022 season brightly and challenge his teammate in the standings.
