McLaren Immortalizes the ‘Bravery, Commitment and Ingenuity’ of Its Greatest F1 Driver at Monaco GP

McLaren is one of the most successful F1 teams in F1 history. The British team has won 8 constructor’s championships and 12 driver’s championships. And one of the main individuals behind the team’s success in the sport was F1 legend, Ayrton Senna.

Senna won three drivers’ world championships with the team and guided them to 4 constructors’ championships during his 6-year stint with McLaren. So the Woking-based team has decided to honor the Brazilian legend by putting his logo on the MCL36.

From the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix onwards, the Senna logo will be present on the halo of the 2022 McLaren F1 car. “ We are honored to carry the @AyrtonSenna name from the #MonacoGP onwards. His bravery, commitment, and ingenuity continue to set the standard for our team to this day,” wrote McLaren on their social media handles.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown revealed why the team honored one of their best drivers of all time in this manner.

Brown revealed Ayrton is an integral part of the team’s history in F1. He was part of the team’s most dominant era in the mid-80s to early 90s. The American mentioned that the Senna logo will serve as a constant reminder of his achievements with the team.

“Starting from the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the McLaren MCL36 will carry the Senna logo, marking our commitment to celebrating his legacy. I can’t think of a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to commence this recognition of Ayrton’s life,” said Zak.

” Ayrton Senna is, and always will be, a McLaren legend. His performances with McLaren, which earned him three Drivers’ World Championships, cemented his place as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers,” said the McLaren CEO.

It is a wholesome gesture from the McLaren F1 team towards one of the greats of the sport. The gesture is even sweeter, as Ayrton is the most successful driver in the streets of Monaco. He had won in the principality for a record 6 times in his F1 career.

So honoring him in this manner melts the heart of every motorsport fan in the world. Senna is still very much relevant in the world of motorsports even though he passed away almost 30 years ago. The Brazilian driver’s legacy will live on forever with McLaren F1 from here on.
