Throwing Son’s Safety Out, Oscar Piastri’s Mother Makes Special Request to FIA for Exciting Racing

The Dutch GP had everything that makes for a holistically thrilling Formula 1 race and whatever any fan could ask for. From the bright Sun shining overhead to the dark clouds pouring down at the drop of a hat, the weather gods played their role perfectly in creating variables. The varying weather situations made for a tricky race which was Red-flagged at one point. When the FIA is pulling out all the stops to ensure drivers’ safety, why is Oscar Piastri‘s mother wanting to do the opposite?
The Tarzan corner at the end of the main straight gobbled up the races of many drivers. The one most affected by the aquaplaning was Zhou Guanyu, who went straight into the barriers with a force of 19G. He brought out the red flags, and the race was put on hold for over half an hour. Because the race proceedings came to a halt, Nicole Piastri, Oscar’s mother, wasn’t quite happy. She insisted that the FIA should get the drivers on the racetrack despite the heavy rain.
Ughhhhhh! Let’s wrap this up race control! It’s 1am here in Melbourne and I’m booked in for an early morning pilates class😫

For the people present at the track and in neighboring countries, the delay might have felt normal. But for Mrs. Piastri, it was 1 a.m. in Australia. So she wanted the race to wrap up as soon as possible. Firstly, because she had commitments to attend to the next morning. But more importantly, she couldn’t miss seeing her son complete the Dutch GP. She wrote on Twitter (Now X): “Ughhhhhh! Let’s wrap this up race control! It’s 1am here in Melbourne and I’m booked in for an early morning pilates class😫“.
Well, her frustration is understandable. Many fans in countries far away have to stay up late because of the time difference. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that she has gotten involved in the world of F1 on social media.
Mother of Oscar Piastri takes a subtle dig at his ex-team Alpine
The Oscar Piastri and Alpine saga was a hilarious one for people watching from the outside. Ex-Alpine Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer announced in 2022 that the Australian rookie would drive for them in 2023. But to everybody’s amusement, within some time, Piastri tweeted saying that he hadn’t signed with the Enstone outfit.

Eventually, he signed with McLaren and we can all see how successful that partnership is turning out to be. At the Belgian GP last month, Alpine announced the sacking of Szafnauer and on the same weekend, Piastri finished P2 in the Sprint shootout. When a tweet with a collage of the 2 happenings made its way to Twitter, his mother, Nicole, was one of the few thousands of people who liked the post.
