McLaren Reportedly Unite With F1 Rivals Aston Martin in the Upcoming Silverstone Project

Lawrence Stroll is leaving no stone unturned amidst the sky-high ambitions in F1, as the Canadian billionaire recently kick-started the massive Aston Martin project in the United Kingdom. The construction has officially begun! And as Stroll unveiled this amazing news to the public, he even took a veiled dig at their rivals, McLaren.
The Canadian reckoned that the Aston Martin project would be the reverse of what Ron Dennis did with Norman Foster. If you’re wondering who the latter is, Foster is one of the most talented architects in Europe, and also the brains behind the massively attractive McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
Well, despite McLaren and Aston Martin being intense rivals on and off the track, here’s something that has glued them back together.

McLaren: The contractor for the Aston Martin project?
According to ConstructionEnquirer, McLaren Constructions are the main contractors for the construction of Aston Martin’s headquarters at Silverstone. However, Ridge and Partners LLP were the ones to design the scheme which predicts the project to near completion by early 2023 (18 months from now).

This new headquarters will witness an extension of the current base right beside the Silverstone circuit. The work will sport three buildings; Team’s design, manufacturing and marketing sources, a new wind tunnel and a factory and logistics centre.

These buildings will spread along a total are of 400,000 sq ft. Interestingly, this Aston Martin project is the first F1 project in the United Kingdom in 17 years. The most recent being McLaren’s own headquarters – McLaren Technology Centre, which was opened in 2004.
Aston Martin project confirms my belief in F1: Stroll
The father of F1 driver, Lance Stroll, reckoned that he has a massive belief in this £200 million project. “It is a significant investment,” he said. “It shows my belief in the team, confirms my ambition and confirms my belief in F1.”

Furthermore, he opined that 3 to 4 years is all it might take Aston Martin to reach the top, and he looks pretty convinced that the goal is achievable.
Hence, considering Aston Martin’s numerous signings and undertakings since their arrival in F1, could they well be a team to watch out for in the upcoming seasons?
