When it rains, it pours. No, we’re not talking about the Japanese Grand Prix, we’re talking about Mercedes and its struggles this season. The Brackley-based outfit has failed to win a single race so far this season. Furthermore, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been handed three additional concerns from Mercedes.
The Silver Arrows have won just the single pole position from George Russell this season. They have no wins to show for this year, which has never happened in Lewis Hamilton’s 15-year career. To add salt to the wound, Mercedes have listed three concerns for their drivers in the upcoming US GP.

Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver of the US GP race. He has won the race 6 times in his career. However, it might not be the case this time out. Mercedes engineering director Andrew Shovlin lists why the race will be a tough one for their drivers.
Shovlin said, “It was very bumpy, there was a lot of overheating from the tires and we weren’t performing as well as Red Bull were on the softer tires.”
The Mercedes engineer further mentioned, “They’ve done some resurfacing so hopefully those issues with the bumps are a bit less. But what’s very hard this year is to really know where are you going to be on a circuit before you’ve gone there.”
It will be interesting to see how the two drivers adapt to the issues raised by Shovlin. Hamilton will be looking to extend his winning record in Austin.
Max Verstappen given Lewis Hamilton warning by former Red Bull driver
Max Verstappen has gotten the better of Mercedes ace Lewis Hamilton for 2 years straight. His driving has been faultless this season, and his RB-18 car has been absolutely dominant. However, former Red Bull driver Christian Klien feels Lewis will be desperate to get back on top and we could see the “Real Lewis Hamilton” in 2023.
Klien also feels Lewis, like Fernando Alonso, can easily stretch 5 more years and drive in Formula 1. There have been rumors surrounding his contract situation as well.

Christian Klien said, “I always thought, once the car gets better again, we do see the real Lewis Hamilton, that is just perfection. That seems to come out now and again and George has a little bit more of a harder time against him.”
He further said, “It proves he never gives up. He did a lot of work for the team at the beginning of the season, trying to help the team understand the problems they had with a lot of work on the race weekends. I think he’s just a super-strong driver still.”
