Mercedes’ Claim to the Throne Left Ferrari Royalty Michael Schumacher Wide-Eyed: “The Consequences of What You See…”

Michael Schumacher is most famously known for his contributions in Formula 1, winning his seven World Championships with Scuderia Ferrari and Benetton. However, not many people know that Schumacher, the former Mercedes driver, helped build the machinery which created the other 7-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.
When Mercedes decided to return to the sport, Michael was one of the primary reasons for that decision. The German legend played an integral part in building the very foundation of the car and the team that went on to win 8 consecutive constructors’ titles.

In an old video, a retired Michael explains how he was surprised by the Silver Arrows, in a positive way. Moreover, Schumacher also heaped praise on how well Mercedes used the resources, which was key to their development.
Michael said, “They have been able to use all the resources in the way that are keen, can keep the development the slope in a positive trend. That’s why they’re where they are.”
“It’s natural that the consequences of what you see now is actually built up in the various three years.”
He further adds, “You need to think like a gearbox. You need to find all the people and move them in the right position that one is working into the other and that took time, but I wasn’t very optimistic that already this year you would see this so they’ve done a good job”
Michael Schumacher finished on the podium just once with Mercedes. However, he laid the building blocks for The Silver Arrow’s ultimate success.
Michael Schumacher felt the love and respect from Toto Wolff and co.
The former Ferrari driver was always respected by the entire Mercedes crew. Mercedes put their faith behind Schumacher and the German never felt like he was not respected or given enough credit for his work.

Talking to Lee McKenzie, Michael said, “To me it’s much more important that inside the team, I was credited and people understood that I was doing and how good I was doing things. I never ever had the feeling that they were doubting.”
The German is an important figure who helped the Silver Arrows reach the pinnacle of motorsports. Additionally, one of the reasons why Michael was so well-liked by his team was because he never blamed them for any shortcomings.

Michael Schumacher would have loved to see his hard work yield the perfect result. Mercedes dominated F1 for a staggering 8 years. Furthermore, they took home 7 of the 8 Driver’s Championships in that time.
