Remember how people wrote off Fernando Alonso? The Spaniard was stuck in midfield teams for the longest time. His move to Aston Martin was considered a bad choice. We all know how Alonso’s story panned out this season. Similarly, an F1 expert recently wrote off Lewis Hamilton. Surprisingly one of Hamilton’s Engineers defended the F1 Expert. What did the engineer say? 

Karun Chandhok has been in the limelight for his opinion on Lewis Hamilton. The F1 pundits suggested that the Lewis Hamilton era as a leading F1 driver is finished as he wrote Hamilton off for the championship. Chandhok further advised how Max Verstappen is operating at a very high level with everything going his way. However, some fans didn’t take it well and slandered Chandhok on Twitter. 

One of them was @premystic who posted the race classification from the 2011 German GP where Lewis Hamilton won the race and Karun Chandhok in Lotus was lapped 4 times. However, this is where things get interesting. Lewis Hamilton lead engineer @coxy847 [Jonathan Wilcox] replied to the fans’ Tweet. Most of us would think that the comment is going to be supporting Lewis Hamilton since Wilcox is his engineer.

Turns out, he was actually defending Karun Chandhok. Jonathan Wilcox replied to the 2011 German GP stats with “How many Grand Prix have you competed in?” As @premystic tried roasting the F1 expert, Hamilton’s lead engineer put him in his place by suggesting that at least Chandhok had it in himself to make it to F1.

Nonetheless, the Tweet by the Mercedes engineer was later deleted for obvious reasons. Being pro-Chandhok after what the F1 pundit said about the Briton can only be interpreted in one way. Fans took over social media to now slander Mercedes whose engineer was defending the person who wrote of Lewis Hamilton. Let’s see what the fans have to say.

Fans react to the Mercedes Engineer’s comments defending the Expert who wrote off Lewis Hamilton

Fans took to Twitter to express their anger and disappointment at the fact that Hamilton’s own team members are defending the person who wrote him off. Many predicted that Mercedes are doomed as the engineers are busy posting Tweets rather than working on the car. Others suggest that Mercedes used to be a proper team but because of the engineer’s action, they deserve to be behind Williams. Let’s see how the fans reacted on Twitter:
