Sebastian Vettel is all set for to begin a new chapter in his F1 career. After six seasons with his dream team, Ferrari, the German will now race for Aston Martin F1. After a dismal end to his story with the Scuderia, it is expected that a fresh environment would reinvigorate the four-time world champion.

Many believe that signing up with the Silverstone-based outfit was the best possible move Vettel could make; it is believed to work wonders for both parties.

Undoubtedly, the allure of racing for a team with rich motorsport background and a promising future in F1 would have played a big part in Sebastian signing on the dotted line. However, former F1 team principal Eddie Jordan believes Mercedes had a big hand in Vettel making the switch.

Jordan said, “There’s no doubt that Vettel was enticed to come to the team because of Mercedes.

“It’s not a Mercedes full team but it is a huge involvement of Mercedes in this team, and they will have wanted to see Vettel being part of it, that’s for sure.”

Vettel spent the most part of his Ferrari career looking on frustratingly as the Mercedes cars zoomed ahead of him. But driving the Mercedes powered Aston Martin, Vettel will finally get a small taste of how it feels to be on the other side of that story.

Sure, the car may not be dominating the grid, but it certainly would be capable of competing for podiums. And Vettel would certainly like to hear the German national anthem play a lot more than it did in 2020.

The former Jordan GP team principal said, “The team has chosen Vettel because of the knowledge he has, as a four-time world champion.

“I can speak from experience, Hill coming to me wasn’t necessarily the quickest driver in the world, but he was hugely knowledgeable, hugely talented, and he had an ability to impart information and knowledge to us, to be able to build a far better car.

“I do believe that that’s where Vettel will be really strong. And I think the team will be a lot stronger as a result.”

Can the ex-Red Bull star match the lofty expectation asked from him? Will he be back to his best this year? Or will he have another nightmare campaign? We shall soon see.
