While it is still early days into the 2022 season, there is one team that has caught the attention of everyone. Ferrari have looked mightily impressive in the first 2 days of the pre-season testing in Barcelona.

They have racked up most amounts of laps done by any team during the testing. One area that the team has improved the most is their engine, with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff calling it the best on the grid.

The Austrian mentioned that the Italian team has been super consistent in the preseason testing so far. “We have the feeling that Ferrari currently has the most powerful engine,” said Wolff.

We are still the outsider and not the favorites: Ferrari team boss

As reported by Formula1.com, Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto mentioned that despite the claims of Toto Wolff, the Italian team is still an underdog this season. It is correct to emphasize that it is too early to judge the progress of Ferrari.

“When you’re doing a lot of laps, you are certainly collecting data. So far I’m pleased by the fact that yesterday we did many laps, and this morning too, which is important.”

“How we benefit from that, I think only the next months – not the next days – will tell us. To see the full potential of the cars will take at least four to five races as there is still so much to learn, to adapt, to address.”

“Let’s wait and see. Honestly, we’re not the strongest team. We are still the outsider and not the favourites,” said the Ferrari team principal.

Despite looking impressive ahead of the season, we have to remember that this is still testing. Moreover, No F1 team will be running full tilt on the track, giving the competitors a taste of their potential.

But if Ferrari have made games on their engine, it is only positive news for the sport, as one of the iconic names could be back on the front of the grid.
