Lewis Hamilton is not only renowned for being an amazing F1 driver, but the seven-time world champion is also quite the well-known fashionista. The Mercedes superstar is often seen sporting some cool outfits and is also the brand ambassador for brands like Tommy Hilfiger and, more notably, IWC Schaffhausen.

Most recently, Hamilton featured in an interview with the aforementioned Swiss watch brand, giving fans a bit of an insight into his love for watches.

The Silver Arrows driver revealed the reason behind his obsession for watches, retelling that the love story began at an early age.

He said, “I’ve always been into mechanics to start. As a kid, I was always taking things apart and rebuilding them.

“When you look at one of these watches and there’s 500 pieces all put together by one person, the craftsmanship, I think, for me, is fascinating. Plus, the pieces are obviously tiny.”

However, that wasn’t all that he revealed. In the interview that was hosted by famous late night talk show host James Corden and which also featured NFL superstar Tom Brady, Hamilton went on to reveal the story about his first ever watch.

And soon he will be driving on track again, the Mercedes W12, in Bahrain for the season opener on March 28th. Pre-season testing wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns, however.

It may seem as though Mercedes have lost a step in performance due to the aero changes. It certainly does give Red Bull and Max Verstappen in particular a good chance to shoot for the title. Most pundits think that a thrilling season is on the way. But only time will tell if their optimistic predictions come true.
