Mercedes F1 Launches Its 2020 Challenger ‘W11’

It is that day of the year when we give a red rose to our loved ones. Mercedes F1 has done the same for its fans by lifting the covers of its all-new 2020 car. The six-time champions unveil the W11 at Silverstone. They are the 5th team on the grid to unveil the 2020 car. The Silver Arrows will be hoping to maintain their dominance to rack up another championship. Above all, Lewis Hamilton will be gearing up to fight for his seventh Drivers’ championship to come on the same level of the great German, Michael Schumacher.

The 2020 challenger of Mercedes F1 is finally here. The team gave the first glimpse of the car via social media accounts. The livery was earlier launched when the team announced it’s partnership with the British chemical giant ‘Ineos’. The 2020 car has a faint hint of purple with badging of Ineos on it. Lewis Hamilton has also revealed his new helmet for the fans which similarly has a touch of purple on it.

Earlier launches of Mercedes F1

Champions unveiled their 2019 challenger, the W10, with a shakedown at the Silverstone International Circuit. It happened on the 13th of February, 2019. In addition, the new car completed its first laps with Valtteri Bottas behind the wheel for a 2.98km run at the home of the British Grand Prix on 13 February. F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton took the W10 for a spin in the afternoon.

Team principal Toto Wolff said: “The 2019 season will be a new challenge for all of us. The regulations have changed quite substantially.”

The car was again spotted on the 1st day of the pre-season testing in Barcelona. Mercedes F1 was once again called for “Sandbagging”. In addition, the Mercedes F1 pair of Valterri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton clinched the 8th and 9th positions respectively on day 1 of 1st testing.
