Years will go by and the entire grid will change, but we will still be talking about the 2021 championship and the rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The awe-inspiring battle from 2021 has made them rivals for life even if they aren’t battling each other on the track currently. We know this to be true because of how often it comes up, even though it’s been an entire season and then some that the two have battled it out on the track. An interview ahead of the Singapore GP also highlighted that, as McLaren men Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were also asked to pick between the two.

The McLaren men were fulfilling their media duties ahead of the Singapore GP when the interviewer caught them off guard with the burning question. The question is slowly becoming a staple in the world of F1 and Norris has chosen a side during this line of questioning in the past. However, during this particular incident, his teammate bailed him out. Let us tell you how.

In the rapid-fire round of questions toward the McLaren men as seen on YouTube, Piastri came up with a perfect response. When asked to choose between “Verstappen or Hamilton?” Norris initially said, “Damn, this got serious” while pondering upon the answer.

However, Piastri was quick on his feet and said, “I’m going to say Piastri.” Norris also followed his lead and delivered his verdict and said, “I’m going to say, Norris.”

However, this is the newfound confidence speaking in the McLaren men. Newly found after the upgrades introduced at Silverstone, after which both of them become extremely competitive. In fact, so competitive that many believe, including Norris, they can challenge Mercedes as well for the second spot in the constructors table.

McLaren seemed down and out yet again at the start of the season. However, the Woking outfit pulled a rabbit out of their hat with a massive three-part upgrade package which has put them among the front runners.

The upgrades have not only given them results but also much-needed confidence in their abilities. The same confidence with which Norris believes he can catch Mercedes and even Red Bull.
