The modern world might have taken strides in combating the social evils that trouble humankind. But issues like casual sexism and racism still destroy the innermost layers of humanity. Sport, which is considered to be a uniting force, also suffers from this problem. In Formula 1, the biggest personality driving this change is 7x champion, Lewis Hamilton. And this time, he has directly targeted the FIA for their casual sexism.

The world of F1 has changed and major changes have been brought about to improve not only the sport but also society. But the rulebook itself, which serves as a bible for the sport’s stakeholders, has a big issue. Unlike the other series of motorsports, the F1 rulebook uses ‘he’ to refer to the racers instead of ‘riders’. To change the face of how FIA tackled this issue, Hamilton has accelerated Mission 44, to which he pledged $25 million out of his own pocket.

The problem of the big names in the sporting and entertainment world having misogynistic attitudes is a thing of the past. Not entirely, but sport, at least, has gained a lot of ground in fighting this social evil. And as the FIA takes another step towards a better system, they have notified Hamilton, and everybody, about their steps.
