The most awaited Las Vegas GP that made a return to the calendar after 4 decades finally came to an end. And what a race. It had everything. Lap 1 crash, great overtaking, strategic battles, exchange of lead and fight for the win. Seems like Vegas proved by more than just a show. Just days after Max Verstappen’s disgraceful comments, Lewis Hamilton comes back at his eternal rival with a jab. What did Hamilton say?

Max Verstappen won the Las Vegas GP after a rollercoaster ride with safety cars, changing the situation twice in the race. Even the drivers that were involved in the Lap 1 incident were able to make it back into the points, including Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen earlier in the week made comments about the Las Vegas GP just being about the show. Verstappen said that Las Vegas GP is, “99% show and 1% a sporting event”

Lewis Hamilton took a dig at Verstappen’s comments by explaining how much fun he had out on the track and the track actually felt nice to drive on. Hamilton said, “I’m really grateful that the race was so good. I don’t know how it was as a spectacle to watch but there was so much overtaking, it was like Baku but better. I really wasn’t expecting the track to be so great. But more and More laps I just really loved racing. Lots of overtaking opportunities. And I think all those who were so negative about the weekend saying it was about the show, Blah Blah Blah, I think Vegas proved them wrong.

Nonetheless, Max Verstappen seems to have accepted his mistake of saying that Vegas was all about the show as his post-race comments suggested ironic comments.

Max Verstappen makes hypocritical Las Vegas comments as Charles Leclerc agrees with Hamilton.

Max Verstappen, in his post-race comments, explained how the race was super fun and that he really enjoyed it. Seems like the 1% sporting event perception of the Dutchman changed after racing the Las Vegas Strip Street circuit. He added that he’s looking forward to coming back to Las Vegas next year.

Charles Leclerc also enjoyed the racing as he sounded synonymous with what Hamilton said about racing. Leclerc, during the post-race interviews, said, “I really enjoyed the race. We needed it. The weekend didn’t start the way it had to start. But I’m so happy that it ended like this. It’s such an incredible sport. There is no better race to start in Vegas. The energy around the city is incredible. I just really enjoyed the race.”
