Lewis Hamilton‘s fan following has to be one of the biggest out there in the history of Formula One. With such a big fanbase that calls itself the LH Army, the demand for his merchandise, as you can imagine, is notoriously high. The Mercedes driver has his own online merchandise store called Plus44, but it isn’t just any ordinary Hamilton merchandise. It’s his foray into streetwear. The online store sells a wide variety of merchandise, including limited edition tees, hoodies, trucker hats, dice sets, and keychains, among other things. Most of these profits go towards his charitable foundation, Mission 44.

As part of Plus44’s first capsule collection in October 2022, the seven-time champion collaborated with renowned Japanese designer Takashi Murakami. Since then, Murakami’s designs have become a fan favorite, so much so that Hamilton and Murakami collaborated once again this season for a Las Vegas GP drop. Now, as the year’s coming to a close and it’s time for the holidays, Hamilton and Plus44 are “Refreshing our greatest hits just in time for the holidays 🎁 Get it before it’s gone for good ❄️”

As part of this ‘greatest hits’ collection, Plus44 took to Instagram to announce its latest drop. Calling it ‘the vault,’ the recent drops, unsurprisingly, included custom designs by Takashi Murakami, who is well known for creating Mr. DOB. “This year’s special collaboration motif is a fusion of one of my characters, Mr. DOB, with the letters L and H of Lewis Hamilton on his ears and my signature flower, creating an American-college-like mood mixed with the 90s techno design. I hope you will enjoy it,” the Japanese designer wrote.

With the post, Plus44 wrote, “The vault is OPEN 🔓❄️Order by the 14th to get it by the 24th,” urging their potential customers to order Hamilton merchandise just in time for the holidays. With this background, you’d expect every new drop to be met with high levels of enthusiasm. However, it wasn’t meant to be for the fans of the seven-time world champion this time.

Fans furious with Lewis Hamilton’s Plus44

The thing that is bothering the fans the most is the fact that they still haven’t received their shipments from before the Las Vegas GP weekend! These orders, presumably placed before November 18th, still have not made their way to the customers. Considering the latest drop comes with a 10-day delivery guarantee, the fact that fans still haven’t got the Las Vegas merch isn’t sitting right with them. One aggrieved customer wrote, “I ordered on November 15th and still didn’t receive tracking information or nothin.”

It’s not just one fan, either. A lot of fans are upset about the lack of communication from the Plus44 team regarding the merchandise that was ordered almost a month ago. “I never even got a confirmation email from my Vegas purchase, yet my card got charged!”

This wasn’t the end of all grievances, though, as another fan and customer wasn’t really happy with the quality of the products that they did receive. “You guys really need to work on the quality. Ordered from the Japanese collection, and the quality is no way near what it should be for such an expensive price. While I support Lewis, I won’t be purchasing any more merch.

What’s more? The fact that Lewis Hamilton, the champion of inclusivity, seemingly doesn’t have inclusive clothing options ticked some fans off. “Are these all men’s clothes? There is nothing for me.😂”

However, one fan did come in support of Plus 44, stating that the online store did communicate an extended shipping date for the Vegas drop. “Guys!! @plus44world did have a long shipping date for the Vegas drop if l remember correctly…✌🏾🤷🏽‍♂️”
