Mercedes Reveal Launch Date and Revamped Name for 2021 F1 car

February 2, 2021 5:09 pm

Mercedes have just announced the launch of their new car for the 2021 season. The Silver Arrows will launch the new ‘Mercedes W12 E Performance’ F1 car at the beginning of the next month.

Amid all the suspense regarding the Hamilton-Mercedes negotiation saga, the F1 community is eagerly looking forward to the launch of the 2021 car, an absolute favorite to win the championship this season.

Teams usually launch their respective cars in the middle of February. Fans had lost all hope to see the Mercedes car anytime soon, as Toto Wolff had stated a couple of days earlier that the car is not yet ready by a long shot and looked like an emptied Lego on the floor at the time.

However, the team just announced the date, March 2, 2021 on their Twitter post, captioned, “it’s a date.” The new ‘E Performance’ designation is reported to appear on all forthcoming Mercedes AMG hybrid road cars as well.

Mercedes-powered cars on the 2021 grid

The Brackley team’s power unit has proved its might over the last seven years. They have created a hybrid engine that has won every single title since 2014. As a result, having a Mercedes power unit can cause a significant improvement in a team’s performance.

This season, there are three teams that will be driving under Silver Arrow’s power unit on the grid – Aston Martin, McLaren, and Williams. All of them are looking to improve their performance and are an exciting prospect for the 2021 season.

Aston Martin is making a comeback to the sport after six decades. Moreover, their driver Sebastian Vettel is making a shift to a Mercedes power unit after six years of driving a Ferrari.

McLaren, on the other hand, is looking forward to continuing their momentum of last season. They will hope for a better result and more podiums under the Brackley team’s power unit this season. Meanwhile, Williams are looking to revamp their Formula 1 run under the new management of Dorilton Capital.

It will be exciting to see the Mercedes 2021 car next month. The team has clarified that the car will continue to sport a black livery like last season. However, the excitement to see the top contender of the 2021 championship is difficult to contain.
