A large part of Mercedes’ success has arrived courtesy of Lewis Hamilton and his exceptional racecraft. The Briton has taken his game to the next level in the last few years. In turn, that has also led to the defending champions working hard to retain their crown.

But with Hamilton’s contractual situation still unresolved, one does not know if the superstar will continue in F1 in 2021. Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan, though, believes that both parties would come to a ‘good solution.’

Jordan stated, “Lewis Hamilton is the jewel in the crown. He’s the one every TV station wants to interview.”

“Mercedes are probably saying a lot of this is to do with the car and we’ve given him an outstanding chance to be world champion because he has the best car. That’s not in dispute.”

The rumor mill has also suggested that George Russell could replace Hamilton in the hot seat for 2021. However, Jordan thinks that Mercedes would be ‘deluded’ if they expect any replacement to replicate the same success as Hamilton.

He continued, “However, if they think they can replace Lewis Hamilton with another driver and have the same element of success then I think they are deluded.

“And one thing’s for sure Mercedes and (team boss) Toto Wolf will not be easily deluded. He’s a very smart guy. He knows exactly the value of Lewis Hamilton and I think they will sit down and come to a good solution because the world of F1 needs Lewis Hamilton in it.” concluded Jordan.
