F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali received a lot of criticism for his alleged ‘meteorite’ remarks recently. However, instead of thinking about the negative sides, the two-time W series champion Jamie Chadwick is using it as a motivation to make it to the pinnacle of motorsport.

The Formula 1 grid has not seen a woman driver in more than 46 years. The last woman to drive in an F1 race was the Italian Lella Lombardi. To date, she remains the only woman to finish inside the top 6 of an F1 race. 

Jamie Chadwick hopes to change that and break into F1 within the next 5 years. She said Domenicali’s comments did not matter to her. Jamie explained, “It doesn’t really bother me to be honest, it is motivation if nothing else.”

She further added, “My goal is definitely to try and make it in five years. There is a lot I need to achieve in that time but my goal is to try and go through the correct feeder series and have success to be in F1 within five years.”

Despite her success in the W Series, Jamie Chadwick knows she still has a long way to go before reaching her ultimate goal.

What did F1 CEO say about women making it to Formula 1?

Stefano Domenicali was at the receiving end of some harsh criticism about his comments on women racing in F1. His comments were not taken well by the fans, who are seeing diverse changes made in Formula 1. However, the Italian wasn’t against women racing in F1. He also added that the necessary steps were being taken to see more females in the sport.

Domenicali said, “Realistically speaking, I don’t see a girl in Formula One in the next five years unless something like a sort of meteorite comes into the earth. That is very unlikely.”

He also added, “But we want to build up the right parameters with the right approach, step by step, for them to start to race against the guys at the right age and in the right car. That’s what we’re working on.”

Many teams are launching more campaigns focusing solely on nurturing women’s talents. Among them, Alpine launched a new campaign that plans on promoting a woman driver to their lineup in the next 8 years.
