Despite the P3 finish, it was there were several reasons for Sergio Perez to celebrate a brilliant race in Mexico. Now having made history in his country, the fans went wild for their favorite driver. Yet over the deafening cries from the grandstand, there was one fan who stole the spotlight. Sergio Perez’s father was the happiest man in the Autodrom.
With a wide, proud grin plastered across his face, Sergio Perez’s father, Antonio Perez, ran around parc ferme waving the Mercian flag. Truly a proud moment for Mr. Antonio as his son became the first Mexican driver to lead a home race; also the first to step on the podium at the Autodrom.

As Checo made history, it was not before an aggressive charge against Lewis Hamilton. The two kept fans on their toes as the battle for P2 went down to the wire. And fans were happy about it! Although Checo missed out on the 1-2, the roars from the crowd were a good consolation.
As Checo awaits his celebrations with a good sip of tequila with his father, it will be hard-earned for the driver, who didn’t have a boring moment throughout the race. Along with Sergio Perez, his country celebrates with him.

Perez has had a brilliant day in Mexico today. A third consecutive podium, history-making milestones, and some very important points for the team. Barring the win in Bahrain, the first stint of the season was vanilla for the driver. Now in Mexico, the spice has certainly arrived, and on time.
Now, with an undeniably powerful form, Sergio Perez is ready to push his Red Bull to the limit; as he did today. Perez’s second stint of the race was the perfect bombshell of pace and talent as he slowly crept on Lewis Hamilton. Towards the end, he was always close enough to attack, yet backmarker traffic hindered overtaking opportunities for the Mexican.
