The Imola sprint race is over and fans got to see some mind-blowing battles throughout the session, including the one between Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. It was a pleasure for F1 fans to witness the new generation of Vettel-Schumacher battles.

Every F1 fan knows Michael Schumacher was Seb’s idol. When Vettel became an F1 driver, Schumi was like a mentor to young Vettel. Later, Vettel even started winning against his idol. Now around a decade later, Vettel is now the idol and mentor figure for Mick Schumacher. The Schumi Jr is now learning and going neck-to-neck against the four-time world champion.

While the young Schumacher started the sprint race in P12 and finished P10, his mentor Seb dropped 4 places to finish P13. It was during the final few laps of the race when we saw Schumi Jr overtake his mentor to finish P10 in the Imola sprint race.

Both the Germans answered about their battle during the sprint race. Seb mentioned he couldn’t defend against Mick for a long because the Haas driver had Medium tires while Seb was on Soft tires. Hearing Seb’s comment, Mick Schumacher jokingly takes a dig at the four-time world champion. Shumi Jr said, “I was taking it easy.”

But he also mentions how happy he was to race against his mentor and what he got to learn from Seb during the race. Mick reported, “It was good fun. It was great seeing what he was doing, like defending and stuff. I pick up some stuff from that and learn from it.”

Vettel and Schumacher’s wholesome moment

Seb and Schumacher can be found hanging out together in the paddock or even playing football. But their bond doesn’t end there. During the formation lap of the Imola sprint, Seb showed thumbs up to Mick while passing him and the young Haas driver waved at Vettel. It was a wholesome moment for the F1 fans.

Vettel and Schumacher would again come back on the Imola circuit for the main race on Sunday. It would be interesting to see the battle between the mentor and student. Who do you think would finish ahead in Imola?
