Sebastian Vettel has been an important mentor to Mick Schumacher both on the racing track as well as at a personal level. However, quite interestingly, the German world champion isn’t the only Formula One driver to guide legend Michael Schumacher’s son. There is also another driver in Lewis Hamilton that has apparently taught Mick a few life hacks.

During an interview, the Haas driver openly admitted that Hamilton has never shied away from giving him advice related to racing. Moreover, Mick even met with his father’s Mercedes F1 successor during Grand Prix events back in the early 2010s.

What did Mick Schumacher say?

Speaking to Crash, the young German opened up about his healthy Vettel-like relationship with the seven-time world champion.

Yeah, definitely! He’s always been very open to giving advice to help me in the position I was in. Also, already back in the day, when my dad wasn’t with Mercedes anymore, I did get the chance to come to a few races and see him there,” the Haas driver said.

This could well be the secret behind his short yet glorious racing career so far. From being backed by his own family comprising two incredible racing drivers, Michael and Ralf, to enjoying the company of the heroes of the next era, Hamilton and Vettel, Mick has found himself nourishing in a rather healthy circle.

Lewis Hamilton more of a friend than a mentor?

Mick revealed that his conversations with Hamilton weren’t always related to racing. Instead, some of his conversations even touched upon his personal life subject.

It’s been definitely nice knowing that when he had time, he was able to talk to me about certain things. Those conversations are obviously private. Some of it is related to racing but most of it is just on a friendly basis,” the potential future Ferrari driver concluded.

Overall, Mick embraced a competitive rookie season in 2021 despite having to drive an extremely underwhelming Haas car. However, amid the 2022 regulations, there are chances that Haas will be able to revive their older form, handing Mick a package that is capable of scoring points at a regular frequency. So, a better season ahead for the German? We’ll know in time.
