Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel share a lot in common, the least of which is their German heritage. Seb has a well-documented fandom of Mick’s legendary father, Michael Schumacher. Since Michael mentored him when he came to F1, Vettel has been trying to reciprocate that by taking his son Mick under his tutelage.
The Aston Martin driver must have given the Haas rookie much advice since the two are often seen mingling around the paddock. And Mick has revealed the most important one he got from Vettel –
“I think the biggest advice he gave me is really to just never forget why I’m here. And that’s because we love the sport. Once you lose that, you’re in the wrong place.”

F1 is a sport that can exert enormous pressure on an individual. Sometimes the competition can be such that a driver can lose sight of why he started racing, in the first place. However, it is important that Schumacher Jr. heed the rich advice of his mentor.
“So I’m enjoying my life. I’m doing the best thing in the world. I think that it’s great to have somebody like him giving me advice here and there,” said Mick.

Mick’s also building up a relationship at Haas
And it is not just Vettel, with whom he is building a solid relationship. His father, Michael, was close to the people he worked with at Ferrari. And that laid the foundation for the team’s success. At Haas, he is trying to build a similar level of trust –
“The team is a big, big part of my development, but it’s also a big part of my confidence. I take that confidence from the team that they’re giving me. They have a huge trust in us as drivers. I have a huge trust in my team.”
