Mick Schumacher will serve as Ferrari’s reserve driver in the 2022 season. A very good place to start taking steps towards an eventual Ferrari seat. His background as a Ferrari Academy protégé will also prove helpful.

Further, Mattia Binotto is preparing the driver for the day to fill in Michael’s boots. “Mick is still part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, which means we are still coaching him as a driver even today. But we’ve an entire program [with him] because in still being part of an academy, it’s part of our objective to continuously try to develop them as drivers.”

Additionally, Mick had an impressive first year at Haas. Thus, the Ferrari boss believes that if he keeps up, undoubtedly, there will be a day we see Mick in a Prancing Horse. ‘“Being part of it, if you are doing well, no doubt you may have opportunities. He’s already had one season in F1, which is important.”

So the dream is very much alive for Mick, who has dedicated much of his rookie season to his father. Will there be a championship in store for the driver as well? Only time will tell.
