Mick Schumacher was a whisker away from making his highly anticipated F1 debut at Nurburgring last Sunday. However, the fact that the weather played spoilsport to his plans would have been disappointing for him.
The F2 Championship leader’s focus would now solely lie on closing the season out in Bahrain. And by doing so, winning the title, which could automatically fetch him a ‘super license’.
The super license obviously comes in handy, if the German has any hopes of finding himself behind the wheel of a Formula One car next season. Gauging a couple of F1 teams’ interest in Mick, that could be closer to reality than we all think.

Mick Schumacher can take part in the young drivers’ test
After FP1 was canceled, Ferrari’s Team Principal declared that the Ferrari Drivers Academy (FDA), would look into the situation. And the most likely opportunity that these drivers could get would be in the practice sessions at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Dr. Marko was quoted as saying, “Two days after the race there is a so-called young driver test. He (Mick Schumacher) has plenty of time to prepare.
“That would only cause unrest, and I don’t think that’s the right style if you say goodbye to a driver and take away the last race.” (translated from Google Translate)

Who gets the boot at Alfa Romeo if ‘Schumi Junior’ finds a way in?
The Alfa Romeo driver lineup for 2021 has been a rather hotly debated topic over the course of this season. There are 2 seats with 3 names in contention to occupy those; tensions are bound to flare.
For starters, confirming Kimi Raikkonen’s stay would be quintessential for the Hinwil-based outfit. That would mean a rather straight-forward call between Mick and the existing choice, Antonio Giovinazzi. An elementary choice to make, as far as a lot of fans are concerned.
