Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher recently suggested that Haas driver Nikita Mazepin should find an alternative to driving in F1. The 22-year-old Russian concluded his rookie season. The US-based team had a disastrous season as they ended up at the last spot in the constructors’ standings.

The two Haas pilots could not manage any points finish in the 22-race calendar. Mazepin held an upsetting record of being the only driver with no Q2 appearance this season. On the other hand, Mick Schumacher managed to put up some impressive close battles in the midfield but mostly ended up ceding his ground to big players.

The F1 pundits believe Haas did not have a competitive car this season. However, Ralf Schumacher is of the opinion that the lack of experience of Mazepin is holding back his nephew from performing at the topmost level.

Schumacher advises Nikita Mazepin to leave F1

Mick Schumacher won the top F1 feeder series in 2020 before announcing his arrival at the top level. He is expected to be the next big thing in F1. However, his rookie season did not give many hints that he could make it big at the top level soon.

In a recent interview, 6 Grand Prix winner Ralf Schumacher went all guns blazing at Mick’s F1 teammate. He understands the pressure of Michael Schumacher‘s name around in F1, but he still believes that an experienced pilot would help the young German in his growth as a racer.

“I think Mazepin was definitely a good driver in F2, but this year his development has gone in the wrong direction and he really should do something else … He doesn’t have to be an F1 driver,” said Ralf as reported by Motorsport.

“Mick needs someone to help him. Who can work with him to help the team, and then Mick wouldn’t be in such a desperate situation,” he concluded.
