Mind-Blowing: This is How Much Red Bull Gained From Ferrari’s Misery

The Constructors’ table this year has turned out quite differently from how everyone imagined it would be. In comparison to this time last season, both Mercedes and Ferrari have scored lesser points in this season. But what is surprising is that Red Bull has hardly used that to its advantage.

Mercedes is currently leading the Constructors’ table with 366 points compared to their 407 from last season. Ferrari on the other side has scored 169 points fewer than where it was last season. Ferrari stands in P6 at the moment, having scored just 74 points.

Mercedes have 41 fewer championship points than they did this time last year. Ferrari have 169 fewer points.

When one looks at the comparison, it would be understandable if Red Bull had capitalized on this. But it does not seem to be the case for the team. Red Bull has gained just one point in this season compared to the last season.

Ever since the start of the hybrid era in 2014, Red Bull has been the team to take advantage of the mistakes made by both Mercedes and Ferrari.

But this season has been an unusual outing for the teams in Formula 1. Ferrari’s downfall has opened the door for Red Bull to finish in P2 on the Constructors’ Championship standings for the first time since 2016.

Teams like McLaren and Racing Point have stepped up in the absence of the Prancing Stallion. Both the teams crossed the 100 points mark while Renault is also just a point away from the getting into the three-figures.

Unsurprisingly, Mercedes has dominated over the course of this season. Red Bull has also remained lonely in P2, with no fight from other teams. But P3 is the place to watch out for. Racing Point, Renault, and McLaren are looking really close, and by the look of it, the fight could very well go until the end of this season.

Is the Championship fight over with Ferrari out of the equation?

Ferrari has looked off during this season, and the misery is likely to permeate into the next season. But it would be wrong to assume the championship fight is over already.

Red Bull has remained unpredictable over this season. With new tracks like Portimao and Nurburgring entering the Formula 1 calendar and the uncertainty of the track’s behavior looming over the teams, it would only be a matter of time before the championship leaders make a mistake.
