Sports is a very unifying medium for athletes and fans likewise. A lot of sportspersons are often seen cheering their friend(s) competing in another sport at an international level. For instance, Neymar Jr. cheering for Lewis Hamilton at the Spanish GP this year. More than the soccer star, it is 3-time Olympic gold medalist snowboarder, Shaun White who has been present for F1’s 7x champ. In an interesting turn of events, Hamilton is now en route to replicate White’s unorthodox achievement but surprisingly, MLB star Shohei Ohtani has come to play spoilsport.

It might sound like a bit of a mish-mash but here’s how these top athletes of their sports have gotten bracketed together today. Hamilton and White’s public friendship goes back to the 2020 Monaco GP. The 5-time American Olympian was in attendance in the paddock with his girlfriend and Canadian actress, Nina Dobrev rooting for Hamilton. After that, their bond deepened with the duo, along with Dobrev, flying to Antarctica to bring in the New Year. But how does MLB pitcher, Ohtani, come into the picture?

People Magazine has already started work on their ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ issue. The voting is underway Lewis Hamilton is one of the options for fans to vote for. Competing with him in the category is the Los Angeles Angels’ Shohei Ohtani. If the Mercedes racer can overtake the baseball star before he strikes out, he’d be recreating what Shaun White did in 2014 by being titled the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by People.

While Ohtani and Hamilton are going against each other for a spot at the top of people’s hearts, they are also co-investors in a golf legend’s sports company.

Lewis Hamilton and Shohei Ohtani invested in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s endeavor TMRW Sports

In August 2023, Tiger Woods, along with fellow golfer, Rory Mcllroy, launched a tech-focused sports venture called TMRW Sports. Their aim was “to harness technology to bring fresh approaches to the sports we love”. 3 months later, in November, they made a big announcement.

A fresh group of investors had come on board. Among others, the most famous investors were Serena Williams, Steph Curry, and the pair that we have talked about the most in this article – Shohei Ohtani and Lewis Hamilton.
