Every driver aims for a win at a Grand Prix, but to envision yourself winning at the crown jewel of F1, Monaco, is having true self-belief. From the looks of it, Max Verstappen is one driver who has that, and has stated his desire to win in the upcoming race weekend.

The Dutchman currently sits in second place in the driver’s championship, behind Lewis Hamilton. A win at Monaco will give him the 25 points that can see him at least close the gap to the Briton, if not take the lead himself.

However, it might not be easy, as Hamilton would double down from his victory in Spain and aim for a similar victory around the streets of Monte Carlo.

Max Verstappen hopes to see the checkered flag in first place at Monaco

As quoted by Speedweek, Max said, “I’ve never been on the podium in Monaco, and I’d like to change that. We just need a smooth weekend, I think that’s very important. We’ll see if we’re fast or not, but so far we’ve been pretty close in qualifying. I hope that it will be the same in Monte Carlo.

“I know from my own experience that no mistakes are allowed in Monaco, we just have to make sure that we can do everything well on Saturday, because on Sunday it will be difficult to move forward in the race. However, so much can happen.
